Visit by Employment Minister Priti Patel MP
St-Eds was delighted to receive a visit from Employment Minister, Priti Patel MP, who was given a tour of the workshops and had the opportunity to meet with staff and trainees along the way.
Norwich North MP, Chloe Smith, joined the Minister as they heard from young people at St-Eds about why mainstream education had not worked for them and the benefits of receiving vocational training.
The staff team at St-Eds were thrilled to be able to showcase their work and to put questions to Priti Patel on what support the Government is giving to young people who choose a career in construction.
Priti Patel said:
“It was a privilege to see the work being carried out at St-Eds to provide vocational training to young people in Norfolk who struggle to learn in mainstream school or college. The staff team are delivering industry-led training, with the opportunity of work experience and employment through corporate partner Taylor Wimpey. The support package in place for young people, to address their barriers to learning, ensures every young person gets the opportunities they deserve. I’m incredibly impressed by St-Eds and their proactive approach to tackling the underlying issues which lead to youth unemployment.”
